2026 RBI Sales TriathlonCompetition Overview
Mock Interview Role-Play: Students engage in a fifteen-minute mock interview role-play with a business executive. The role-play is then evaluated and scored on various aspects of the interview, including introduction, appearance, and overall communication effectiveness, as well as the ability to communicate personal value and gain a commitment for the next steps. Speed Selling: Students create a two-minute sales pitch about themselves. Then each student meets individually with an executive and delivers a two-minute pitch explaining why they should be hired. A one-minute question-and-answer session follows, then the student moves on to the next executive.The video below is for demonstration purposes only.
Sales Call Role-Play: Students engage in a fifteen-minute sales call role-play with a business executive. The role-play is then evaluated and scored on various aspects of the sales call, including approach, overall communication effectiveness, ability to gather information, identify needs, provide information, present solutions, resolve concerns, and gain a commitment. The video below is for demonstration purposes only.
Competition Guidelines
All contestants must report to their designated room 15 minutes before their scheduled sales role-play, mock interview, or speed-selling time.
Each sales role-play and mock interview is limited to 15 minutes. The video recording will start when the role play begins and will be turned off when the 15-minute timer expires.
Each contestant will be evaluated based on what transpired during the video-recorded session. Judging criteria will be provided separately.
Judges and RBI team members are only permitted in the evaluation room.
Visual aids prepared before each role play may be used during the role play. No additional time will be allotted to create visual aids for the presentation.
Information regarding each role-play is confidential. Sharing this information with other contestants is strictly prohibited. Violation of this rule may result in elimination from the competition.
Sales Role-Play Training Materials
Below is the sales role-play scenario training material for the RBI Sales Triathlon. We ask that each student competitor use these materials to prepare for the competition. The role-play scenario is based on Sherwin-Williams products and services. A training session will be hosted by Sherwin-Williams to provide insights into the company and answer role-play-related questions. The video recording of the training session will be made available after the training session is completed.
